Life is a Vacation
Jun 15, 2022I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful sunshine that June has brought!
I spent the day with a special friend of mine last week who does brilliant, detailed Akashic readings.
She told me that my reason for being born onto this Earth this lifetime was to have fun. Basically, she said that this lifetime was supposed to be a vacation for me, a relaxing adventure where I got to explore a different reality.
Well let me tell you, this about knocked me off my chair because this lifetime has been far from a relaxing, fun adventure!
My life often feels solemn, full of responsibility and soooo heavy. Like seriously guys, everything I do feels like it could be life or death. (I mean, really as a midwife and a parent this is true sometimes, but does it ALWAYS have to be so serious?!?!)
So I have been thinking a lot about the choices I have made, the way that I have been living, and why it is not fun and relaxing and how I can make it be more so.
I think about all the parents I know and whether or not they would consider their lives fun, like a vacation. I think some of them would, and some, like me, would say that it is far from that. They would say that life as a parent is hard.
Taxing. Exhausting. Draining.
Oh sure, there are some amazing moments that make it all worthwhile. But overall, parenting is HARD.
And how can it be taken lightly? I mean, you are responsible for keeping another human alive and for making sure they grow into a solid adult, right?
As I roll these thoughts around in my head, I come to realize that my own burdensome emotions, the guilt, the pressure, the need for perfection, are at least part of what has made life as a parent feel so heavy.
So I wonder:
- Why do I carry around such a heavy load of feelings?
- What is actually in the load I am carrying?
- Can I put it down?
- Is there any way to make it lighter?
- What would happen if I stopped carrying it?
If you have ever wondered why your load feels heavy as you move through pregnancy, parenting, or life…
I would like to explore this with you.
If you feel like you have a few things you might not need to carry anymore, I would love to help you unpack them.
Stay tuned.
