It’s a Great Time to Have a Baby!

I just want to celebrate all the amazing births I have had the honor of witnessing in 2022. It must be a great time to be born because these births have been so beautiful and fulfilling to be a part of. I feel so grateful.

• I caught the tiniest baby I have ever caught- 4lb 8oz, perfectly healthy just tiny! His mom literally pushed so hard she shot him over my hands while I was waiting for him!
• A 3rd time mom who had two previous looooong labors had a baby on her bathroom floor surrounded by her whole family.
• A warrior mama faced her fears after her baby let us know that it needed to be born by cesarean.
• One birthing person amazed me by the way she told herself during transition that she needed to get it together, stop freaking out, and do what she needed to do to have a baby. She took one sip of coffee and was a new woman, calm, in control, and powerfully birthed her baby soon after.
• I was blessed to offer the breath of life to several babies who just needed a little help transitioning into this realm.
• One family welcomed their 5th baby, and seeing all the sweet siblings soooo excited about the new baby was possibly the most heartwarming thing I have ever seen!
• An impatient baby boy came before I got to the house, came so quick that no one knew she was pushing and no one caught him! I arrived moments later to a perfect baby, a very sweaty, nervous dad, a giddy doula, and an over the moon, blissed out mama.

I just want to say…. Man, it feels good to be a midwife in 2022.
