2025: Not too late to dream!
Feb 15, 2025
2025 is here and moving fast—can you feel it? I’ve been seeing everyone’s 2024 recaps and their hopes for 2025, and I wanted to do the same....Like 3 weeks ago, lol. But sometimes life happens, and we have to decide whether to do the things we want even if the date on the calendar isn't perfect, and everyone else finishes it before you ☺️
Here’s me giving you permission to chase your dreams, no matter the timing.
2024 was one of my busiest years in Midwifery—maybe ever. July alone brought 11 births! If my newsletters were a little quiet, now you know why. It was a year of highs and lows. I saw more babies than I’d like needing emergency care and walked with families through the heartbreak of separation. But there were also so many joyful homebirths, including repeat clients from my book. That felt like coming home. ❤️
It’s pretty unbelievable how much I fall in love with my clients and want to stay in their lives. It’s hard when they move on without me! I wish I could have been a midwife in the old days, when it wasn’t just about birth but about being with women through every phase of life. That’s what I truly love.
For the past two years, I’ve partnered with another midwife, which gave me space to enjoy life outside of being on-call 24/7. I went on a cruise with my mom, had a powerful healing experience at a women’s retreat in Joshua Tree, celebrated my second kiddo’s 21st birthday in Vegas, and attended a family reunion in Oregon, where my dad and his brothers formed a family band and recorded an album! My boyfriend and I also bought a travel van and explored Colorado’s beauty.
Still, I missed being the primary midwife and forming those deep, soulful connections. So in 2025, I’m returning to solo practice. I know midwives need more support, but for now, I’m figuring out how to balance it all.
Another big shift last year came in teaching. My dear friend Penny retired from co-teaching doula workshops with me. When I applied to teach through DONA, they said I wasn’t “qualified.” After some soul-searching, I decided this work is too important to stop.
I’m now teaching small, intimate birth and postpartum doula workshops in my home, and it’s going well! This year, I’m adding womb healing workshops and retreats, helping women reconnect with the sacred power of their wombs. Our wombs hold and care for us throughout life, and I love helping women tap into that wisdom.
If you haven't had a womb healing session or womb closing ceremony with me... You are missing out! You deserve this kind of care. Come see me! ☺️
I’m also continuing doula mentorships and launching a student midwife mentorship program. If you’re ready to deepen your skills, let’s connect.
For myself, 2025 is about slowing down and listening—to my body, my womb, my children, and the water. My number one goal for 2025 is to sit by the river and hear what she has to teach me. Sitting by the river heals me. Recently, when I asked her what’s next, she said: "Bring women to the water." I’m still figuring out exactly what that means, but I’m excited to explore it with you!
I’d love to hear about your 2024 and what you’re dreaming up for 2025. If you’re interested in home birth, womb healing, or doula/ midwifery training, reach out—I’d love to share this journey with you.
Love and abundant blessings to you and your families in 2025!
Best,
Geneva
